Clean Living Resources
Clean Living Resources
At BodyWell1, we believe you deserve to know exactly what's in the products you bring into your home. These are the trusted databases, certifications, and organizations we rely on to vet every product in our store — from personal care and grooming to home cleaning, laundry, and beyond.
Ingredient Safety Databases
- EWG Skin Deep — Search over 90,000 personal care products and ingredients for safety ratings based on toxicity and health concerns.
- Think Dirty — Scan product barcodes or search by brand to get a clean ingredient rating from 0–10.
- EWG Guide to Healthy Cleaning — Ratings for thousands of household cleaning products including dish soap, laundry detergent, and more.
Certifications & Standards
- EWG Verified — Products that meet EWG's strictest standards for ingredient safety and transparency.
- Made Safe — A rigorous non-toxic certification for products made without harmful chemicals.
- Campaign for Safe Cosmetics — Advocates for safer ingredients in beauty and personal care products.
Vegan & Cruelty-Free Resources
Vegan and cruelty-free are not the same thing. Use these trusted resources to verify whether a brand or product meets both standards before you buy.
Cruelty-Free Certifications & Databases
- Leaping Bunny — The most rigorous cruelty-free certification. Brands must commit to no animal testing at every stage of production, including ingredient suppliers. Search their database to verify any brand.
- PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies — PETA's searchable database of cruelty-free brands. Brands self-certify, making it a useful but less rigorous starting point than Leaping Bunny.
- Cruelty-Free Kitty — An independent resource with detailed brand-by-brand breakdowns, including parent company research. Especially useful for tracking whether a brand's parent company tests on animals.
Vegan Certifications
- The Vegan Society Trademark — The original and most recognized vegan certification globally. Covers both ingredients and manufacturing processes.
- Certified Vegan Logo (Vegan Action) — A widely used US-based vegan certification. Look for this logo on product packaging.
- PETA-Approved Vegan — PETA's separate vegan certification, distinct from their cruelty-free program.
General Clean Living
- Environmental Working Group (EWG) — Research, guides, and advocacy for a healthier, toxic-free life across food, water, personal care, and home.
- Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families — A coalition working to protect families from toxic chemicals in everyday products.
